Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakLazerbeak, News

Blamo!  Welcome back to this post album release edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak.  Last week was definitely one of the craziest weeks of my life, still in recovery mode I think.  Gonna keep this post on the short side today, but I’ll be back next week with a longer one.

The big huge record release show went down on Friday night, and it couldn’t have gone any better in my opinion.  It was so great to play a show with all of my best friends either in the bands or in the crowd.  There are a couple flickr pages up that have some great photos of the entire evening.  You can check out Ben Lafond’s page HERE, and Denis Zastera’s page HERE.  Definitely worth checking out if you have a second.  There was such an incredible amount of joy flowing through that building.

A huge thank you to everyone that made it out.  The support was overwhelming and I have never felt so humbled and excited in my life.  We premiered the brand new Lazerbeasts shirt and show poster at the show as well, and those are both now available on the WEBSTORE.  Check out these incredible designs below courtesy of artist extraordinaire Matt Scharenbroich.

At the end of the show we also officially got to announce all the info for this year’s sixth annual Doomtree Blowout!  So excited about this one, for the first time ever we will be doing two nights in a row at First Ave: December 10th (21+) and December 11th (all ages)!!!  You can get tickets online HERE, or if you live in town and want to save a little money make sure to pick them up at Fifth Element or The Depot.  This is gonna be such an amazing way to end the both the national tour and the whirlwind year.  I cannot wait!

I spent all day Saturday at my soon to be brother-in-law’s bachelor party.  My little sister Emily is getting married this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited for the both of them.  I had a blast with Tommy and his friends, and even learned how to play frisbee golf for the first time in my life.  Not bad at all.  The whole rest of this week is all about getting everything together for the wedding and figuring out how to pull off this cover of “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson Five that I’m playing during the ceremony.  Big shout out to my sister on this huge week in her life.  Saturday is gonna be so awesome Em.

Sunday was all about celebrating.  We decided to host a huge Chicken n Waffles n Mimosas party at our place to thank all of the incredible people that were involved in the show and the making of the album.  It was absolutely glorious.  There were about 25 of us deep, and we lived like kings for a day.  Below is a picture of the proof that I actually bought out the bar at Popeye’s (never KFC, ever).  And no I didn’t pay with a thousand dollar bill, that was a typo.  I haven’t gotten to that level of Bawse just quite yet.

Here is what all of those letters and numbers translate to in real life delicious food:

Unreal.  Fried chicken, Belgian waffles, biscuits, Cajun fries, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, creamed corn, greens, and a ridiculous amount of mimosas.  Plus 25 friends to devour it all and football on the television all day.  That is certainly a recipe for possibly the greatest day of all time.  I highly recommend you give it a try sometime.  LEGENDZ!

Well there you have it.  What an incredible week.  Definitely gonna attempt to get more than 5 hours of sleep a night this week if possible.  I’ll leave you with a couple Bonus Jams from my guy Jaheim.  Gonna take it back to right around 2001, which actually was a pretty great year for RnB music.  This album Ghetto Love was a pretty huge hit with me and Brittany (along with that Dave Hollister joint I mentioned awhile back).  The critics always tried to turn this guy into the second coming of Teddy Pendergrass, but I always thought that was a bit of a stretch.  Those are some pretty huge shoes to fill, and Jaheim always seemed to be just trying to do his own thing.  Either way though, this dude definitely has some hits (from this album and the next couple he put out).  “Could It Be” is one of my ultimate jams, and the video for it is pretty hilarious if you can make it to the twist ending.  For some reason I ended up playing this record a ton last week and it brought back some great memories of the early days with the future wifepiece.  Haha, enjoy.  Hope you have a wonderful week and I’ll see you next Tuesday.
