Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakDessa, Doomtree, Homepage, Lazerbeak, News, SHREDDERS

Welcome back another edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! It’s officially December and that means that it’s once again time for the outrageous Doomtree December Blowout Sale. We’ve got the return of the mystery grab bags, album bundles, t-shirt bundles, hoodie bundles, poster bundles, and crazy storewide discounts as far as the eye can see. Plus you can use checkout code BLOWOUT10 to get 10% off all orders over $50, and checkout code BLOWOUT20 for 20% off all orders over $100. Get a glimpse at some of the sweet, sweet deals below and hit up the Doomtree Webstore right HERE to place your order. It’s a perfect time to stock up on stocking stuffers and presents for your loved ones (and yourself).

On top of that we’ve also made up a limited amount of Dessa holiday cards that will come with any physical order of her new Sound The Bells album with the Minnesota Orchestra. There are only 50 of these bad boys and they’ll be shipped out with your order throughout the month of December while supplies last. Includes a special holiday greeting from Dessa to you on the back. Grab yours HERE.

You may have noticed that it’s the first Tuesday of the month but there’s no Tuesdays With Lazerbeak podcast episode out. Jeyca has been valiantly battling a nasty Pro Tools upgrade, so this month we’ll be dropping the podcast on the second Tuesday of the month (12/10). I guarantee it will be worth the wait – especially because on December 10th you’ll not only get said recorded podcast, but we’ll also be posted up at the Parkway Theater that night for a live taping of the January podcast. Now that’s what I like to call a TWOFER. This time around we’ve got Doomtree’s own P.O.S as our special interview and musical guest. We’ll be doing a deep dive into his life and music, and he’ll be playing an intimate live set as well. Plus we’ve got Sara Jean and Jesse from Wellness Minneapolis stopping by to perform LIVE ACUPUNCTURE on us and discuss all the things we’ve been working on together over the past six months. Should be an absolute blast. Huge shouts to our great sponsors Copycats, Twin City Tees, Bent Paddle, Absolut, and Red Bull for helping to make it happen. Check out all the sweet deetz below and grab your tickets right HERE.

Speaking of P.O.S (SEGUE!!!), he returned home last week with Sims, Paper Tiger, and myself after a most excellent West Coast Shredders run. Thanks to everyone that came out in Portland, San Fran, Seattle, and Denver. We had a ball. Here’s a little photo recap of our travels. SO FUN.

Great week with @shredddders. We traded in @djpapertiger for @mysocalledhaley at the Denver airport. #Clem

We’ve just got one more leg of the Great Hits Tour to go, and next week we’ll be flying out to the East Coast to knock out shows in Philly, DC, Boston, and Brooklyn. If you’re on the fence about attending, check out these absolutely ridiculous promo videos from Stef and Sims. I think they’ll tip you over the edge. Shot by the good people at Taste Music. Come to these shows!

PHILADELPHIA – Wednesday, December 11th – Boot & Saddle

WASHINGTON DC – Thursday, December 12th – Black Cat

BOSTON – Friday, December 13th – Middle East

BROOKLYN – December 14th – Elsewhere Zone One

For real though, these recent Shredders concerts have been the most nutz ever and our live set has morphed into a total next-level weird rap jam explosion. If you happen to live near any of these cities or have friends that do, would you please consider attending or getting the word out to your homies? We’d love to party with you and your squad. Check out all the dates below and grab those tickets right HERE.

Oh and speaking of Taste Music (SEGUE II), here’s a little interview that Sims and Stef did with them before the show in Denver. Thanks a ton to Robert for coming out and shooting.

Sound the Bells by Dessa and the Minnesota Orchestra has now officially been out for over three weeks and we’re so thrilled by the enormously positive response its getting. Check out a few of the first-week sales landmarks that we hit last month on Billboard. Huuuuuge thanks to everyone who picked up a copy, streamed it, or got the word out. Team The Best Team for real.

Dessa recently wrapped up a run of East Coast shows with her Monakr bandmates and a real deal STRING QUARTET. Here’s a photo recap of her time on the road. These shows looked absolutely magnificent.

And here’s a full-on video recap from the Brooklyn show by the homie Jessy Gonzalez.

Dessa will be hitting the West Coast in January for one more round of Sound the Bells shows, complete with the string quartet and the Monakr dudes. You can grab tickets for San Fran, Seattle, and Portland right HERE. We should be announcing a few more dates shortly as well.

One last little Doomtree-related post: Our beloved Minnesota Timberwolves are now a month into the regular season and playing there hears out. Last year we collaborated with them a bit, and this year we’re ramping things up even more. The intro players warmup music has been provided by Shredders at all the recent home games and we also contributed Doomtree’s “Team The Best Team” track to the Wolves recent jersey unveiling video. That’s Sims on the voiceover too (TRIPLE THREAT).  Check it out below and GO WOLVES!

That does it for the news this week. I’ve been slacking a bit on my Bonus Jams over the last month, so today I’m gonna go all out. Let’s kick things off with the new album from one of my favs, Tinashe. Loving the entire Music For You project, especially some of the more upbeat numbers like this “Story of Us” track.

Tinashe – “Story of Us”

PARTYNEXTDOOR is back with a new double single. I wasn’t super feeling “The News” but this “Loyal” song with Drake is a smash hit. These guys together can do no wrong, as shown by 2016’s “Come and See Me” track.

PARTYNEXTDOOR – “Loyal” (ft. Drake)

Absolutely loving this new album from Nigerian singer Davido. I honestly think this one may creep into my Top 5 Albums of 2019. Every song on here is beautifully produced, arranged, and sung. Highly recommended.

Davido – “1 Milli”

Also super pumped about the new Lauv EP that came out last month, even if it was mostly just a collection of all the singles he’s released so far. Every track is a hit and this new one with LANY is phenomenal. Pop music at its finest.

Lauv & LANY – “Mean It”

Stoked for a new solo record from Air’s Nicolas Godin. If this “Foundation” track with Cola Boyy is any indiciation it should be totally bonkers. Check it out below.

Nicolas Godin – “The Foundation” ft. Cola Boyy

Soccer Mommy is heating up with a couple of new singles and a big tour announced for next year. I can only hope that means a new full-length is on the way, since Clean was probably my favorite record of last year. New single “yellow is the color of her eyes” is really nice.

Soccer Mommy – “yellow is the color of her eyes”

JT and Yung Miami are back together again and they sound GREAT on this new City Girls single “You Tried It.” Perfect turn-up music.

City Girls – “You Tried It”

And if you’re looking for a little explicit holiday music to spice up your playlist, I have got the ultimate jam for you. Shelby Swain is back with this amazing “Christmas Time” song for the clubs. It’s fantastic.

Shelby Swain – “Christmas Time”

Loving the choreography on this new DaBaby music video. That guy cannot miss these days.

DaBaby – “BOP on Broadway”

Big time shouts to our homie Mux Mool who just released a new single last week. We got to catch up with Mux backstage at the Shredders show in Denver. Can’t wait to hear the rest of this project.

Mux Mool – “Boner of a Lonely Heart”

Equally big time shouts to our friend Psalm One who just dropped a visual for “Ain’t 2 Famous” from her excellent Flight of the Wig album. Psalm absolutely murders it, per usual. Love this one.

Psalm One – “Ain’t 2 Famous”

I love Gully Boys so much and this music video for “New Song No. 2” may take the video of the year award. CRUSHING IT. Make sure to catch them at the Entry for their weekly residency this month if you’re near the Twin Cities. Four more shows left to go.

Gully Boys – “New Song No. 2”

Tons of love to Maggie Morrison who just released her excellent debut solo EP as MARGRET. You might remember Maggie from Lookbook, Digitata, and GAYNGS, plus she provided some awesome guest vocals to Paper Tiger’s Made Like Us album. This EP comes on the heals of some killer live performances in town opening for Poliça and Heart Bones. Grab the whole thing from her Bandcamp right HERE.

MARGRET – MARGRET EP

I just got put up on hometown act The Nunnery and I’m super feeling this new “Proud” single and music video. Pumped to check out their new We Are The Stars full-length which you can grab right HERE.

The Nunnery – “Proud”

Shouts to my man Benzilla who produced this new heat rock for Papá Humbertico and Rebecca Lane. Check out “Ahora” below.

Papá Humbertico – “Ahora” ft. Rebecca Lane (produced by Benzilla)

The fellas in Koo Koo Kanga Roo have been absolutely killing it this year, touring nonstop and releasing single after single. This new “Hot Sauce” song and visual is one of my favorites from them, especially because its subject matter is so near and dear to my heart. You will love this song whether you are a child or an adult.

Koo Koo Kanga Roo – “Hot Sauce”

And lastly, I took Lou and Cam to Frozen II last weekend and I gotta say it was infinitely better than I expected. Possibly the wokest Disney film of all time (it allowed me to have a conversation with my kids about colonialism for gods sake), plus the music is outstanding. I know I have weird tastes, but right now I legit see this soundtrack making my Top 5 of 2019 list. “Lost In The Woods” is out of control good.

Frozen II Soundtrack – “Lost In The Woods”

Here’s a bonus picture of the squad after the Frozen 3D showing. ALL THE THUMBS UP.
