Wednesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakLazerbeak, News

Welcome to another belated and unconventional Wednesdays With Lazerbeak.  Yesterday the good folks over at Consequence of Sound world premiered the brand new Sims video for “LMG” (third single off the tour de force that is Bad Time Zoo).  Our awesome crazy genius friend Matt Scharenbroich drew on over 1,600 pieces of paper to create the tripped out vizualz below, and we’re all super proud of it.  You should probably check it out not now but right now.

Haha, my favorite part has to be the end where Sims and a dragon walk side by side off camera.  So glad that song now has an incredible video counterpart to go with it.  If you get a second today it would rule if you could help us spread the word about this video to whoever you think might be into it.

We’re gonna be loading up the van this afternoon, as the Good Time Zoo Tour officially departs tomorrow morning.  Sims, Cecil, Papes, myself, and merch slanger extraordinaire Young Baby Ander will be hitting the road for the next month or so.  We’re making a quick pit stop in Colorado on Friday to play Red Rocks(!!!!!) with the entire crew (and RJD2) before heading out West.  You can click the flyer below to learn more about that.

After that we’ll be circling the country for another four weeks, hopefully coming to a city real close to you, before heading back to Minneapolis to play a glorious homecoming show at the Fine Line.  Tour dates and ticket links are below.

A few weeks back, Sims and I had a chance to head down to the MN State Fair and perform at The Current’s booth live on the air.  Afterwards they sent us out into the fair with Nate the Camera Guy to explore and talk about the new free Wildlife EP and the upcoming Doomtree record (as well as eat as many fried foods as possible).  Click the picture below to watch us hanging with a ton of sheep, eating Pronto Pups, and guzzling root beer floats.

On that same trip we also snapped a picture of what will inevitably be the cover of the follow up to Bad Time Zoo.  People, prepare yourself for TRIPLE TROUBLE!!!!

Haha, all felt transfer everything.  Speaking of The Current, we’ve recently joined forces with them and the MN Coalition of Music for a series called Caravan du Nord that promotes homegrown music in places around the state that are often overlooked.  A ton of great bands and people are involved with this tour, and we’re amped to be a part of it.  On October 22nd Sims, Cecil, Mike, and I will be making a trip out to Red Wing to perform at T.B. Sheldon Theatre with Heiruspecs.  Tons more info plus the entire Caravan du Nord schedule is available by clicking on the flyer below.  Should be a great time.

As I’ve mentioned here before, we’ve spent the last four months or so frantically writing, recording, and mixing this new Doomtree crew album, and yesterday we officially finished mastering this beast!!!  Such a huge exclamation point on an absolutely jam packed summer.  There is still an insane grip ton of work to do, but getting the music all wrapped up is always an enormous step in the right direction.  Tons more info about this record coming way sooner than later.  No Kings.  11/22/11.  Here’s Dessa holding the proof that this thing really exists.

For the Bonus Jams this week I’d like to highlight This Is Our Science, the brand new Astronautalis album that dropped yesterday.  Astro has been Doomtree extended family for forever now, and we got to see over the last year just how much hard work he put into this thing.  Congrats buddy, you killed it dead.  You can stream the album in full over at Absolute Punk or by clicking the screenshot below.  Cecil produced the beat for “Lift The Curse” and I made “Thomas Jefferson” (ft. Sims).  The whole thing totally rules, so you should probably just check it out.  If you’re into it, help my dude climb those iTunes charts by grabbing This Is Our Science digitally right HERE.

OK, that about does it.  I have some serious packing to do.  I hope to see a ton of you over the next month or so out on the road.  If you make it out to any of the shows definitely come say hi (and possibly buy me a Bud?).  Hope you all have a great week.  See you sometime next week with the return of Tour Days With Lazerbeak!
