Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakLazerbeak, News

Hello and welcome back to a regular old Tuesdays With Lazerbeak post for once.  We’re home for a few days after wrapping up the first leg of the No Kings Tour this past Saturday night in Milwaukee, and I am very thankful for a little break in the action.  Here’s me celebrating the domesticated life with Della the Dog, the king of beers (no kings), and my favorite sweat set (and of course my favorite wifepiece who took the picture).  So good to be home.

Last Thursday our good friends over at The Current world premiered the brand new video for “Lift Every Voice” off of LAVA BANGERS (available HERE).  It was created and directed by the one and only Matt Scharenbroich, who made a ton of the Legend Recognize Legend videos, as well as the artwork for that album.  He is truly a crazy genius, and I couldn’t be happier with how this one turned out.  Check it out below in all of it’s tripped out glory, and show it to everybody you know if you get a second.

In other instrumental hip hop news, I am very excited to announce that today marks the release of Kill Switch, the brand new split 12″ from myself and Edison (dude from the crazy Music Made With Buttons YouTube videos), out now on Fieldwerk Recordings.  Dave from Fieldwerk hit me up earlier this summer about partaking in the instrumental series of theirs that pits one producer per side (previous participants include Maker, Joe Beats, and Meaty Ogre), and I was super into the idea.  I went with a bit of a chiller approach this time on my 7 tracks (compared to LAVA BANGERS at least).  You can check out the song “Torch Light” right HERE and read SYFFAL’s hilarious review of the record HERE.  Click the album cover (designed by the legendary Adam Garcia) for more details and ordering information.

Here’s a little promo video too in case that’s more your thing.

We’re doing a couple quick one-off shows this week before taking off on the second leg of tour.  We’ll be at Northern Michigan University tomorrow, and down in Mankato, MN on Saturday.  Then on March 7th we kick off round two of the No Kings Tour in Iowa City, as we make our descent towards SXSW (many more details on that coming real soon) and then back up to Colorado for the week long Snow Kings Tour.  Check out all the dates and ticket information for the entire run right HERE.

And just in case you forgot what a Doomtree tour looked like, here’s the latest recap video from the young gunner Chris Hadland (who still has no idea who Keith Murray is).  This one focuses on our East Coast run, and documents our heroic NYC comeback after the Bowery Ballroom flooded the day of our show.  Can’t stop, won’t stop.  Check it out.

I’ll leave you with the Bonus Jam of the Week, courtesy of Melanie Fiona.  She’s the lastest link in the New R&B Canadian Takeover (man I am such a sucker for this stuff).  Here’s “4 AM” off her upcoming album The MF Life, dropping March 20th.  This song completely rules.

Bam, that about does it for this post.  I’ll see you next Tuesday for one final TWL before we hit the road again.  Hope you have a great week!
