Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakLazerbeak, News

Hello and welcome to an extremely special Tuesdays With Lazerbeak.  On Monday morning at 6:05 the wifepiece and I welcomed our very first child into this world.  Say hello to Penelope Marlo Mader!

Our due date wasn’t supposed to be until early July, but due to preeclampsia (super high blood pressure during pregnancy) they ended up putting Brittany on bed rest at the hospital last Thursday.  At that point they said we could be hanging out for up to three weeks before inducing, so we settled in and set up shop.

I was worried about how Brittany was gonna spend three weeks in a bed doing absolutely nothing.  Fortunately for us, there was a Redbox in the lobby!

This was us pre movie watching.  Having already seen most of the new blockbusters, I made the horrific misfortune of renting Contraband and New Year’s Eve in the same night, making for the worst double feature since my brutal Lorax/Descendants debacle earlier this year.  Oh well, fortunately the NBA Playoff Conference Finals have been making up for my colossal mistake ever since.

My mom stopped by over the weekend to drop off this awesome handmade baby quilt.  In the world of crafts/sewing/thoughtfulness/pretty much everything else awesome, she is truly second to none.  Based off this picture alone I have made the decision that my next musical project will heavily feature these two ladies.  I call it Mom 2 Mom, and it’s gonna be a grand slam with that every growing mom demographic.

On Sunday night the doctors made the decision that it was time to induce labor based on Brittany’s rising blood pressure readings, which meant that I got to dress up in this awesome blue jumpsuit!  Seriously, I think these things could be even more popular than the Snuggie.  I have already contacted the appropriate parties to see about becoming the spokesperson for this terrific one suit fits all product.  Let’s get this money!!!

Here’s Brittany, Killa Cam to most, early (I mean really early) Monday morning before they got her prepped for the C-section.  Flash forward just an hour later and BAM!

Penelope Marlo Mader entered this world at 6:05 Monday morning (5/28/12), weighing in at a scrappy 3 lbs 10 ounces.  She made sure to let everybody know about it too as soon as she could open her mouth, causing the doctors to immediately label her “a very feisty girl…. with attitude.”  Haha, wouldn’t have it any other way.

Mom and baby meet for the very first time.

Our big happy family, minus Della the Dog who is anxiously awaiting our return.

Here’s Penny (or Young Penelpz as she is being referred to) once they got her up to the Special Care unit.  She’s gonna have to chill in this incubator for a few more weeks til we can get some more meat on her bones.  The good news is that she’s super healthy, and her lungs have developed enough to the point that she doesn’t need a breathing tube at all.

Mom and baby fist daps.  Legend Recognize Legend.

And there you have it, the most important blog post I’ve ever had the honor of being a part of.  I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that’s been sending love and support our way.  It means the world to us.  I might be a little MIA the next week or two as we adjust to this new and totally crazy phase of life, but I promise once I return I will not turn this thing into a baby blog.  You’ll just have to deal with the very occasional cute baby pics from time to time (promise to go easy on you though, I know how that gets).

I’ve been trying to come up with a way to best describe how insanely awesome I’m feeling about all of this stuff, but I think this David Attenborough rendition of “It’s A Wonderful World” sums it up better than I ever could.  You gotta watch this:

OK, life is good.  I hope you all have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you real soon!
