Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

LazerbeakLazerbeak, News

Welcome back to another Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! I’ve got a brand spanking new Doomtree music video for you today, courtesy of director Adam Dunn and his #LAAB web series. Dunn just launched Season 9 of his minimalist Lights And A Backdrop music video series, and Doomtree’s “.38 Airweight” is at the very top of the pile. Check out the super tyte vizual below, and help us spread the word if you have a second. You can watch all 30 episodes of the new season right HERE, which featuries the likes of Aby Wolf, Sean Anonymous, Mayda, Moon and Pollution, and a ton of other awesome and up-and-coming artists. Huge shouts to Adam Dunn for all the hard work he always puts into these, and for shining a spotlight on artists big and small from our great state. Killing it.

Our very own Paper Tiger just dropped an awesome remix for Triple Crown Records’ band From Indian Lakes, and it completely RULES so hard. Seriously, Papes is in a zone right now. This is great. Check out the “Sleeping Limbs” Paper Tiger Remix below and pick up the entire Absent Sounds Remixed Sounds album by From Indian Lakes right HERE if you’re feeling it.

Dessa and Aby are still going strong out in Europe. They’ve got over a week under their belts now, and have knocked out two sold-out shows in London and a headlining play in Nuremburg. They’ll be hitting cities throughout the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary this coming week, and Plzen, Brno, Bratislava, Budapest, Piešt’any, Prague, and Berlin are all on the docket even before the next Tuesdays With Lazerbeak post goes live. Holy lord, that’s a lot of running around. Check out all the dates from the full itinerary below and grab your tickets right HERE.

And now for a quick check-in from the ladies. Looks like things are off to a very stern and serious start. Trust me, you do not want it with these guys. SERIOUS BIZZNESS.

Here’s Dessa working on a new masterpiece en route to Germany. Orange crayon appears to be her favored medium of choice these days. This appears to be a pretty challenging, next-level statement on innocence lost and the state of the current airline industry. Can’t wait to get it in the galleries later this year.

Here’s Aby hanging out with a crazy gravity-defying street performer in Barcelona. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve had to Google how this is even possible. Nice one, Magic.

Another new show has been added to the Doomtree All Hands European Tour! The guys will be playing Bremen, Germany on July 11th, after swinging through Paris towards the end of the run. Here’s the full German routing to date. Tickets and even more details can be procured right HERE.

Super pumped that Remi will be opening all of the German dates on this run. Check out his great “Tyson” video below if you’re not familiar yet.

Below are all the upcoming confirmed Doomtree shows to date. Still waiting on a couple more big fests to announce before we lock Europe in completely, so definitely stay tuned. In the meantime, you can go right HERE for all the most up-to-date information.

Now for a few upcoming shows back in the states. Our very own Ander Other will be DJing a brand new event called HI-A-TUS this Thursday (4/30) over at the Gamut Gallery, alongside Spaycetime and DJ Keezy. Sarah White and Alicia Steele will be handling the hosting duties. Check out all the sweet deetz below.

The Northeast Minneapolis yearly tradition known as Art-A-Whirl is only a few short weeks away. I’ll be playing with Mixed Blood Majority down at the 331 Club’s Art-A-Whirl celebration on Saturday, May 16th, alongside Retribution Gospel Choir and Pink Mink. We’ll be debuting a bunch of new songs we’ve been working on for the upcoming MBM full-length too. Should be a blast. Check out the full lineup HERE.

That very same night, Sims will headline Grumpy’s NE Art-A-Whirl party not too far down the road, alongside the Cactus Blossoms, Grant Hart, and Farewell Milwaukee. You can check out that full lineup right HERE.

And speaking of Sims (ahem, segue), he’ll be headlining his first hometown show in forever on Friday, June 5th at Icehouse in Minneapolis. Milo and DJ Fundo are along for the ride as well. This one is gonna be NUTZ. Grab your tickets HERE while you still can.

Now for some sweet new Bonus Jams from one of my current favorite bands, Speedy Ortiz. These guys just dropped their brand new Foil Deer full-length last week, and there are some serious heaters on this thing. Check out singles “Raising The Skate” and “The Graduates” below, followed by the Major Arcana classic “No Below” – because that has got to be one of the best songs ever written. LOVE THESE GUYS. Makes me want to play in an indie rock band again. Happy that someone is still out there carrying the torch for guitar bands.

Alright, that about does it for this week. We’ve been super busy finally moving Doomtree HQ out of my living room and into our very own OFFICE SPACE. Huge shouts to Ander, Crista, Nick, and Jimmy for all the help and manual labor getting everything set up over the past few weeks. It only took us about a decade, but we finally have our very own space. So beyond excited and proud. Tearz of Joy.

I wasn’t able to get a ton of Bonus Baby Pics this week due to all the moving, but here’s a quick shot of Penny at her very first dentist appointment yesterday. Sounds like she took the cleaning like a total boss. Now if we could just convince her to stop eating all of the toothpaste straight out of the tube we’d be in serious business. One thing at a time I guess.

BAM. That’s it for today. I hope you all have a truly great week. I’ll leave you with the latest two Doomtree music videos for good measure, just in case you’ve been living under a rock the past couple weeks. Enjoy, spread the word, and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for sure!
