Hey! Welcome back to a super rare edition of Wednesdays With Lazerbeak. Oh man, oh man. What a weekend. Last Sunday Doomtree rang in the 9th-annual Soundset festival in style by closing out the Fifth Element Tent with a serious bang. Here’s a shot I took from stage right before the last song. SO TYTE.

And here’s a shot that our good FRIENDTOGRAPHER Ricardo Zapata snapped in the middle of “Get Down.” Such a fun show.

Now for the sweet drone view from above the stage. Good lord there was a ton of people out. Huge shouts to everyone behind-the-scenes at Rhymesayers and Soundset for making this such a great experience time and time again.

Here’s Cecil posted up on his trusty Subaru as the day was coming to a close. You needed the extra-VIP artist-only secret meet and greet passes for this type of exclusive inside access.

Our merch gang held it down all day in Soundset Village. Massive shouts to Ander Other, Crista Bell, KT, and Nick for organizing and running everything so smoothly. Look at all that new merch!

We’ve got pocket tees, raglan hoodies, new raglan color-ways, bleached No Kings shirts, and some crazy sports-related MN shirts, plus the No Kings Rainbow design is back! Check out all the rad new designs and options below and go to the Doomtree Webstore right HERE to grab everything.

Seeing as it’s officially June 1st, I figured what better time to hit you with the Doomtree June Show Rundown! We’re heading out all over the place this month, starting this Friday in Chicago with a big Do Division Street Fest after party at Subterranean. This is a smaller venue and tickets are flying, so make sure you grab yours in advance right HERE if you’re tryna go to that.

Alright! That does it for the Doomtree June Show Rundown. Now for some Bonus Jams! 2016 has been one of the best years for new music in as long as I can remember, and we’re not even halfway through the year. Here’s just sampling of the stuff that came out in the last couple weeks. I’ll start things off with the new YG single which features Drake AND Kamaiyah on the SAME. DAMN. SONG. Dream come true. So excited for Kamaiyah to blow up everywhere. This song rules.

YG ft. Drake and Kamaiyah – “Why You Always Hatin?”

The new Ariana Grande album has been in constant rotation since it came out a few weeks ago. Definitely a heavy contender for Album of the Year in my humble opinion. The vocal work on this one is truly flawless. She just dropped this monster “So Into You” single last week and it’s one of my favorites from the record. Check out the video below. Probably not for everyone but I definitely encourage you to give it a try.

Dawn Richard (singer from Electrik Red) is getting ready to drop a new EP produced entirely by Kingdom. I’m really feeling this first leak. Excited to hear more from them.

Dawn Richard – “Wake Up”

Venturing into EDM territory a little bit more (not something I’m super knowledgeable in), this new album by Flume has been getting a lot of spins in the Camry as of late. There’s some pretty amazing guest features on here (Beck, Vince Staples, Little Dragon) and I really like how he blends rap beats and R&B chords with the standard fare electronic stuff to make absolute radio hits. Check out “Take A Chance” below.

My most anticipated album of the year still goes to NAO, who definitely has the song of the summer in “Fool to Love.” She just dropped this new “Girlfriend” single last week and announced her full-length is coming on July 29th. Could not be more excited. This song is flames.

NAO – “Girlfriend”

Unknown Mortal Orchestra dropped a one-off single last week and it might be my favorite thing they’ve ever done. Love to hear them embracing the funk a bit more. Definitely check out “First World Problem” below. Super excited to see these guys at Eaux Claires this year.

Now for the song that we’ll probably all hate by next week: Justin Timberlake’s new smash hit “Can’t Stop The Feeling” is about to be played on a million commercials, radio stations, movie trailers, you name it for the next 12 months. I wanted to share it while it’s still listenable because it’s actually pretty awesome. Total Bill Withers “Lovely Day” vibes in the chords and most definitely a clear sequel to Pharell’s “Happy.” I’m debating on whether or not to play this one for the kids out of fear that I may never hear another song again.

Speaking of my kids (SEGUE BAYBEEEE), Penelope just turned four years old last Saturday! Good lord, time flies. We did it up real big for the birthday girl. It was All My Little Pony Everything all weekend long. She’s officially obsessed. Here’s the cool spread.

And here’s P valiantly resisting the urge to lick the frosting off of every square inch of that crazy pony cake.

Her new MLP sleeping bag was a big hit (she still like it turned inside out so the ponies are closer to her). Yes, I just abbreviated My Little Pony like you all know exactly what I’m talking about. Deal with it.

The big grand-reveal finale was this insane four-foot Barbie Dreamhouse that my folks brought over. This is Penny having her mind completely blown apart by all the possibilities. FOUR FEET!!! So far she’s mostly been putting her beads and My Little Ponies in there. I’m sure Barbie will get some love at some point though.

IMG_1255

P’s great grandma made the trip from Wisconsin for the special occasion, along with a bunch of her great aunts. Here’s four generations of incredibly awesome ladies all in one place.

Can’t forget about the boys! I’ll have a ton of pics to share next week as they continue to conquer our new neighborhood and get into all the messes ever. This is Cam in his favorite spot: the sandbox within a sandbox under our patio. There’s levels to this stuff.

And lastly, here’s the living proof that these two kiddos are absolutely 100% completely bonkers. Click the video below and watch it on loop for five minutes. That’s basically my life everyday.

BAM! There you have it. I hope you all have a great week watching these crazy NBA Finals (Warriors in 6 again?) and enjoying the awesome weather. Super pumped to see a bunch of you down in Chi Town this weekend. I’ll be back next Tuesday with a ton of Local Bonus Jams and more Bonus Baby Pics. See you then!
