Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

Welcome back to yet another jam-friggin-packed edish of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! Lots to cover before the big long holiday weekend, so I’m just gonna get right to it. I am beyond excited to announce a brand new collaborative single from me and my dear friend Mark Mallman. It’s called “Peace On Earth” and we created it this past month just in time for the holiday season. That’s the artwork below.

I’ve known Mark since I was a stuck-up indie rock kid way back in high school. He was nice enough to take The Plastic Constellations under his wing and open up for him a few times, and I’ll never forget popping in and playing at one of his early Marathon sessions. My slot was 10:00am in the Clown Lounge at the Turf Club. Pretty sure Mark had been performing for at least 14 hours straight at that point and was eating pancakes while playing the piano. Amazing. Anyways, enough memory lane stuff, here is the brand new “Peace on Earth” from Mark Mallman and Lazerbeak. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it. Bump that and help us spread the word!

In other Lazerbeak news, I’m super pumped to be playing a ton of my favorite soul and R&B deep cuts at Nooky Jones’ 5th annual Soulful Soirée. It all goes down on December 28th at Icehouse in Minneapolis. I’ll be DJing and the incredible Mina Moore will be performing as well, so there’s really no other place you’ll need to be. Check out the details for both Nooky Jones shows below and grab your tickets HERE.

We’re now less than one month away from the 10-year-anniversary vinyl reissue of the first two Doomtree crew albums. Our main man Justin Kristal at Copycats sent over these sweet pics of the physical product that just came into the warehouse. Check out False Hopes and S/T in all their glory below. And insane congratulations to Justin on tying the not this past weekend. These look so gooooood!!!

The Collectors Edition Pre-Order is flying out the door for this reissue. We only made 200 of these special packages available and we’ve only got about 50 left. If you’ve been eying this one, now is the time for action. Check out all the incredible bonus items that come with it below and secure your pre-order right HERE. Makes a perfect holiday gift.

Or you could always go with the stripped back Reissue Bundle which gets you both LPs and saves you some serious cash at the SAME. DAMN. TIME. Check out the deetz below and grab yours HERE.

P.O.S and Astronautalis just officially wrapped up the first half of their #6666 World Tour as Four Fists. Major shouts to everyone across the US that came out over the last month and made it to a show. All the footage I’ve seen looked like an outrageously good time. Here’s a couple pics from the show in Columbus courtesy of our homie @hiphopcbus.

And here’s the one and only Angel Davanport rocking that Bulls Starter jacket like no other.

Glad to have everyone home in one piece for the holidays, but have no fear, Stef and Andy will be headed overseas in January to knock out the second half of this tour. Check out all the dates below, grab some tickets right HERE, and tell your peoples!

Speaking of awesome shows that also involve P.O.S (SEGUE!!!), Shredders is gearing up for our last two plays of 2018. We’ll be in beautiful Duluth, MN next Thursday (11/29) for the debut of the new bar and venue Spurs On First. I CAN’T WAIT! Also extremely excited to announce that we’ll be bringing the young gunner Dwynell Roland along for the ride to rock main support. Grab your tickets HERE.

And don’t forget about the big SNOWTA pre-party going down at First Ave on December 29th with Shredders, Getter, and Bobby Raps. Guaranteed to be a total blast. Grab your tickets HERE.

P.O.S, Sims, Paper Tiger, and myself have been hard at work in the studio all year cranking out tons of projects (solo, crew, and side projects), so we made this handy little Spotify playlist for you to catch up on all things Shredders-related. Check it out below. Thanks Mary!

In case you missed it last week, we announced the glorious news that Doomtree Records will be digitally releasing the debut project from Minneapolis production crew Ultra Suede, which consists of our homies DJ Fundo, MAKR, and AJAB. That’s the album cover below.

The record is jam-packed with a ton of the finest Twin Cities vocalists and rappers, including our very own Sims and P.O.S. In fact, the latest Ultra Suede single “Diamonds” features Sims, ShowYouSuck, and J. Plaza on it. Check out the rad video below and learn about all things Ultra Suede right HERE.

Such a heater. And since we’re on the subject of heaters (SEGUE II), let’s roll right into a new segment of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak Bonus Jams! As always, you can follow and subscribe to my Spotify Bonus Jams playlist right HERE in order to take all these heat rocks with you wherever you go. Updated every Tuesday morning with a fresh batch.

The state of Minnesota in unrelenting in its creation of incredible new music, so I’m once again going to shine the spotlight on our hometown for another round of MN Bonus Jams. Starting things off with the third single from Heart Bones, the new collabo group of Har Mar Superstar and A Giant Dog’s Sabrina Ellis. I had the great pleasure of adding some production elements to each of these songs alongside BJ Burton, Ryan Olson, and Aaron Baum, and I’m super happy with how everything turned out. “Disappearer” is my favorite one yet. Make sure to catch Har Mar and Sabrina as they bring these songs to life for the first time on their upcoming Heart Bones tour.

astralblak (fka ZULUZULUU) have finally released their debut album and it is everything I could’ve possibly hoped for and more. This type of band comes along only so often and it has been an absolute joy to watch these guys combine forces and continue to develop this ever-evolving musical collaboration. You have to hear this record. Stream it below and grab a copy directly from the band right HERE.

Now for a new one from the Wadajir Riverside Band, a new project commissioned by The Cedar Cultural Center that brings together Somali-American musicians and Augsburg students to create an album produced by astralblak’s Greg Grease. Check out first single “Matthew’s Song” below. So good!

Twin Cities producer Hlpwntd just dropped an absolute monster with this “Midori” track. Loving this one and very excited to hear more.

My homie and neighbor Bionik is an absolute beast on the boards and will be releasing a new solo instrumental EP this Friday. You know him from his legendary work with everybody from Ice-T, Aceyalone, Far East Movement, and Lizzo. We linked up last year to bring you the Pools Boys EP and have been working together this year on a project with Sophia Eris (more on that much sooner than later). Check out “Spread My Wings,” the lead single from Bio’s new EP, and make sure to grab the whole thing when it drops on Friday.

Here’s a new one from Minneapolis rapper Jayso Creative. I’m still catching up on all of her creative output as of late, but everything I’ve heard so far has been awesome. Check out “JUGG” below.

I also just got put up on Mac Turner and I’m all about it. Check out “Get Out My Way” below. He does a great job of blending in raps and melodies to form his own vibe. Will definitely be checking for more.

I completely missed this Lexii Alijai Growing Pains album that dropped last year, so I’m playing some pretty serious catchup right now. The whole project is great and this “Love Sucks” track is a highlight for sure.

Singer Vie Boheme just dropped her new Swoon EP and it is EXCELLENT. Check out lead single “Take Cover” below. This video rules.

And you know I’ve gotta end the Bonus Jams exactly where we started at the top of this post. In case you missed it earlier, here’s the new one from Mark Mallman and myself. It’s called “Peace on Earth” and I hope you take three minutes out of your day to take it in. We had so much fun making this one.
