Tuesdays With Lazerbeak

Heyyyyyyyyo! Happy 4th of July week. I’m up at a top secret Shredders writing retreat after crushing out the first full-crew Doomtree show of the year, so I’m gonna keep things short and sweet this time around. It is officially the first Tuesday of July, which means it’s time for another episode of the Tuesdays With Lazerbeak podcast! This time around we’ve got TWO special guests on board for the first-ever episode recorded in front of a live audience. Thank you so much to María Isa and Wellness Minneapolis’ Jesse Haas for joining us, and thaks once again to the Parkway Theater for having us. Check out the full episode below or on any of the places you check for podcasts right HERE, and please help spread the word. ENJOY!

This past weekend was a glorious reunion with the entire Doomtree gang. Huge shouts to Beth El Synagogue and Benilde-St Margaret’s for putting together the unifying Common Sound Music Festival. What a perfect day. Here’s a couple videos from the stage.

On a personal note, this was the first show I’ve played where all three of my children made it through the whole set. God, that made me so happy. Here’s a shot from our friend Rikki Fischer of the kiddos taking in a very boring line check from side stage.

And here’s Cammy “rocking out” during the big performance.

If you missed that show, there’s still one more chance to catch a full-crew Doomtree performance this summer. We’ll be up in beautiful Duluth, MN on August 16th at Wild Waters Music Fest alongside an absolute ton of incredible MN artists and activists rallying to save the Boundary Waters. Check out the crazy lineup below and grab your tickets HERE.

Shredders have been working hard all year on new music and last week we dropped our first new track since 2017’s Dangerous Jumps. It’s called “Ayeyayaya” and it’s one of my fav songs we’ve ever made. Check out the track below or on any and all of the streaming services right HERE. There is so much more where this came from.

In upcoming show news, tonight I will be posted up at the Surly Beer Hall “DJing” nothing but guilty pleasure pop and modern country songs with Dessa.  Here’s a picture of me trying to convince her that we should play the entire new Carly Rae Jepsen album for the first hour of our set.

If you’re in the Twin Cities area, come through tonight from 7-10pm and crush some brews with us. As always, shouts to Copycats Media, Go Radio, and Down In The Valley for sponsoring this ongoing summer event.

And speaking of Dessa AND upcoming shows (DOUBLE SEGUE), she’s just announced a handful of dates throughout the Midwest this September. She’ll be hitting St Paul, Eau Claire, Madison, and Chicago and you can grab your tickets right HERE.

OK! That does it for the Doomtree-related news, so let’s jump into a quick round of Bonus Jams. I am sooooooo excited about this new surprise J Balvin and Bad Bunny collaborative album. The entire thing is flawless front to back.

J Balvin & Bad Bunny – “La Canción”

Way into this new Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello track, but I’m pretty much into anything Camila has ever done, so this is very on-brand for me.

Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello – “Señorita”

Pumped for this new album from Julia Michaels. She’s written a ton of pop hits for people like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, and I’m glad she’s starting to break out of the studio a bit more and release her own solo stuff into the world. Check out “Hurt Again” below.

Julia Michaels – “Hurt Again”

Loving this new Clairo song. I think it’s the best thing she’s done to date. Excited to hear more.

Clairo – “Closer To You”

Can’t wait to dive into the new Daniel Caesar album. He put together one hell of a guest list on this one. Case in point, this great “Love Again” song with BRANDY!

Daniel Caesar & Brandy – “Love Again”

Raheem DeVaughn is BACK! One of my favorite R&B voices of this century. You’re gonna love this whole album.

Raheem DeVaughn – “Just Right”

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib just dropped their highly anticipated Bandana album and it is very good. The Killer Mike hook on this song is crazy and it’s one of my favorite Pusha T verses too (which is saying a lot considering how salty I still am about his takedown of Drake last year).

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib – “Palmolive” ft. Killer Mike and Pusha T

Huge shouts to Dizzy Fae on the release of her new mixtape No GMO. Just got through my first full listen and the whole thing is awesome. Check out intro track “Huu R Uu” below.

Dizzy Fae – “Huu R Uu”

Mega shouts also go out to our good friends Steve Sleeve and ShowYouSuck who just released a new EP as Air Credits. These guys keep getting better on every release. Here’s intro track “Do You Feel Real?”

Air Credits – “Do You Feel Real?”

Prince Riley is one of my current favorite rapper/singer combos coming out of Minnesota, and I highly recommend checking out his entire Royal Family Music Group roster. Here’s a new video for Riley’s Northside Baby highlight “MURKED.”

Prince Riley – “MURKED”

The Trappistines just released a fantastic new single called “Concrete Shoes.” Shouts to Aaron Baum and Corey Lawson on this first drop. I’ve gotten a little sneak peak at what they’re cooking up and am a big fan.

The Trappistines – “Concrete Shoes”

Absolutely loving this new song and video from Lunch Duchess. SO GOOD. Can’t wait for the new full-length to drop later this summer. One of the most exciting bands in the Twin Cities right now.

Lunch Duchess – “Cry Pt. II”

And lastly, here’s a new one from another great Minneapolis band. Night Moves just released a new album on Domino last week and it’s one of the best things they’ve done to date in my opinion. Check out “Recollections” below.

Night Moves – “Recollections”

BOOM! That does it for this round of Bonus Jams. Make sure to add the Bonus Jams playlist to your Spotify account right HERE so you can bring all these heaters with you wherever you go.

Alright, back to cracking out these Shredders beats. I hope you all have an excellent long weekend cooking out with friends and loved ones. Bump that new Shredders joint at the barbecue and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another round of TWL!
