Welcome back to another round of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. Hard to believe, but the Doomtree All Hands Europe Tour is finally upon us! Last night Sims, Stef, Cecil, Mike, Paper, Dessa, and Ander all hopped on planes to make their way over to London Town. Here’s a cool pic of Stef and Ander as I bid them farewell from MSP. Real cool faces guys. Gonna miss these dudes.
The whole squad should have a day to catch their collective breath and take in the sites before heading to Bristol on Thursday to kick off the first show of the UK run (tix HERE). Then it’s The Garage in London on Friday (tix HERE), a sold-out show at Barfly in London on Saturday, a stop at the beyond sold-out Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, and Birmingham this coming Tuesday (tix HERE). Super stoked that Scotland’s The LaFontaines will be main support for all the UK club shows. Check out the dates below and grab even more info right HERE.
After the UK, it’s over to mainland Europe where the guys will spend July touring throughout Denmark, Germany, France, and The Netherlands, before bringing it all back home to play Eaux Claires Fest in Wisconsin on the 17th. Check out all the dates below, including an absolute ton of North American festival dates happening this Fall. As always, full details and ticket info can be found at doomtree.net right HERE. If you’re anywhere near the area, or know of anybody who is, make sure to spread the word and check out a show!
Bringing it back to the top with Stef and his crazy face real quick: We just got some new P.O.S shirts in from The F*cking Best Show Ever, and our webstore in now fully stocked! Check out the one-of-a-kind “Emoji” shirt below, modeled by merch lady extraordinaire Crista Bell, and designed by best dude and constant P.O.S collaborator Eric Carlson. Pick one up HERE.
And here’s Nick rocking the new “Reaper” shirt in between stocking and selling merch at TFBSE. Yes, that is an image of a banana photobombing the Grim Reaper. Again, Eric Carlson for the win. Grab yours HERE.
And speaking of the Doomtree Webstore (segue segue, you already know), huge shouts to everyone that pre-ordered the new Lights Out Paris deluxe-edition vinyl. For those of you who placed orders by last Sunday, your stuff will be shipping out this week ahead of the June 30th street date (Tuesday for international orders, Thursday for US). If you missed the initial deadline, there’s still one more week to pre-order and get all the cool stuff that comes with (t-shirt, sticker, pin, patch, private Livestream concert with Sims, etc). Check out the image below for more details and go HERE for your last chance at getting these awesome bonus deals.
There are a total of four remixes that come with the album, and so far we’ve streamed Paper Tiger’s “Tape Deck” remix and Lazerbeak’s “15 Blocks Remix” (that’s me). You can check both of those out below, along with the newly-mastered original version of each song. Brand new sweet remixes from MK Larada and Joe Mabbott will come with purchase of the album, as well the unearthing of Sims’ very first EP, False Hopes Four.
Let’s continue on with the Bonus Jams while we’re at it. This week I wanted to highlight the works of deVon Gray (aka dVRG), a friend and collaborator who’s had his fingerprints all over the Minneapolis music scene for what seems like forever now. Aside from playing keys with the likes of Heiruspecs, Chastity Brown, and Brother Ali, deVon also composes strings and plays flute on a ton of local albums. He played in my short-lived Ensemble of Legendz back when I dropped Legend Recognize Legend, and we’ve been working together for the past year or so on a bunch of Luther Vandross/Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis-inspired R&B songs, which has pretty much been the best time ever. Here’s a brief sampling of some of the varied songs and projects he’s had his hands in to give you an idea of what I’m talking about.
Heiruspecs – “On The Ground”
Chastity Brown – “Colorado”
Brother Ali – “The Travelers”
Big Quarters – “New Plateau” (flute)
dVRG – “3 Piano Pieces 1: After Bar”
BAM! All these sweet Bonus Jams lead me to the fact that deVon will be curating a solo show with a bunch of friends and guests next Wednesday, July 1st, at Icehouse in Minneapolis. Dosh, 1990, God’s Drugs, and Brick Squad’s Mac Mouse will all be on hand for an awesome night of music. Check out all the details below and grab your tickets HERE. Highly recommended.
OK! That about does it for this post. I’ll leave you with a couple Bonus Baby Pics to close things out. Here’s Penny rocking some newly cut bangs and “designer” sunglasses. The angsty teen in her continues to grow at an alarming rate. I’d be terrified if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m pretty sure we can parlay this into an endorsement deal with the kids division of Urban Outfitters, or something like that. 2015 bodes well for the ever-extending Year of the Endorsement Deal.
I had an awesome Father’s Day with all the kids and both sides of our family last Sunday. Here’s me with P, Cam, and Lou after a long day of BBQ and inflatable pools. I think we’re watching Big Hero 6 (aka “Scary Robot”) for about the 67th time. Pretty sure I now know every word to that Fall Out Boy “Immortals” song from the end credits. Yikes.
Alright, that’s it for real. I hope you all have an excellent week. Make sure to go check out a Doomtree show if you’re over in the UK at all, and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday with a big first week tour update. See you then!
