Holy moly, welcome back to a brand new action-packed edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. We all officially survived one of the craziest weeks of my long-legged life with the incredible Dessa and MN Orchestra concerts and live album recording a few days back. Much more on that in a little bit, but before we go any further: It is the first Tuesday of April and the sun is shining! That means it’s time once again for the Tuesdays With Lazerbeak podcast! EPISODE FOUR, BABY! This time around Jeyca and I brought our good friend and Minneapolis legend Mark Mallman on the show to discuss his incredible new book The Happiness Playlist. We talk about writing process, challenges, triumphs, pancakes, mental health, crockpot soup recipes, and his wonderful AUNT JEAN! Man, this was so much fun. Check it out on the player below or anywhere you listen to your podcasts right HERE. And don’t forget to like and subscribe to the podcast while you’re at it, that helps more than you’d know. ALSO, make sure you go buy a copy of The Happiness Playlist by Mark Mallman (available online HERE). I truly believe it is the best book of 2019 and I just can’t recommend it enough. ENJOY!

March Madness has swept up the Twin Cities as we prepare to host this big crazy Final Four weekend in beautiful downtown Minneapolis. To celebrate, Shredders will be playing a wild pop-up show at an outdoor tailgate party right before the first games this Saturday, April 6th. It all goes down at the Pog Mahone’s parking lot, right across from US Bank Stadium where all the games are being played. We’ll be rocking a FREE SHOW from 3-4pm, and if that wasn’t enough, we’ll also be challenging the audience to extremely competitive games of P-I-G in between songs. Hit me with your best shot and get ready to be crushed. Just check out this little video below showcasing my supreme athletic ability. Thanks for the awesome promo vid, Zeke. Hope to see a ton of you down there!

And if THAT wasn’t enough basketball shenanigans for you, I’ll be posted up at DeLasalle High School on Sunday, DJing alongside my good friend Big Cats! in what should prove to be an absolutely ridiculous competition. Land O’Lakes is bringing together a bunch of university robotics teams from all over the country to unveil their hoops-shooting robots and square off in a friendly game of H-O-R-S-E. You heard that right, robots will be playing basketball against other robots. And on top of that, basketball legends David “The Admiral” Robinson and Christian “I Still Can’t Believe He Hit That Shot Against Kentucky” Laettner will be on board to take on the winning robots. You really can’t make this stuff up, folks. Once again, this event is FREE.99 and open to all ages. You just need to RSVP HERE to get in the door. If I get a picture with David Robinson and Christian Laettner I may just retire from music all together.

And to cap off the wild weekend here in Minneapolis, I’ll be heading down to Mortimers Bar on Sunday night to be a judge in the monthly Beats Per Minute Beat Battle League. Excited to check out a bunch of up and coming producers showcase a ton of new tracks. All our welcome to the battle, so if you want to play some of your latest heat just sign up at [email protected]. See you down there!

Those aren’t the only Doomtree-related shows going on this weekend though. Fresh off of her monster performance with the Minnesota Orchestra, Dessa and the band will be hitting the East Coast for headlining performances in DC on Thursday, New York on Saturday, and Philly on Sunday. Check out her full list of Spring shows below and grab your tickets HERE.

And speaking of crazy Dessa shows (SEGUE FOR THE WIN!!!), let’s finally relive last week’s whirlwind run at Orchestra Hall. I’m still pinching myself to be honest. Star Tribune writer Chris Riemenschneider and photographer Jeff Wheeler were on hand for the entire production, everything from getting the songs ready in the studio and plotting out directives in Orchestra Hall’s “War Room,” to dress rehearsals and the big main event. Such a cool behind-the-scenes look into the making of this live album. Check out the full story right HERE and click the video player below for a short mini-doc as well.

Enormous shouts to our ultimate FRIENDTOGRAPHER Zoe Prinds-Flash for being on hand last Thursday night to capture all the mayhem. Everything from setup, backstage jitters, the actual damn concert, and the brain-frying patch session that happened immediately afterwards. ENJOY!

MAN! What a wild ride. So many incredibly talented human beings came together to pull off that production, I’m at a loss even trying to begin a list of names. Everlasting shouts to everyone that had a hand in pulling it off and anyone who bought a ticket and experienced it with us. That was an absolutely unforgettable moment in my life. LOVE!

I’m gonna skip the Bonus Jams this time around, but I’ll be back next Tuesday with all sorts of awesome surprises. Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you soon!
