Hey hey! Welcome back to another edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. I’m currently wrapping up a short little family vacation at an insane indoor waterpark, so I’m gonna keep this post short and sweet. It is the middle of summer though and this week marks National Ice Cream Day, so what better way to celebrate than with the announcement of a brand new ice cream flavor courtesy of Dessa and Izzy’s Ice Cream! “Dessa’s Night Drive” will be launching at the Minnesota State Fair in August, but you can catch a sneak peek of the creation process below in this sweet (pun v much intended) making-of video from our good friend Keegan Burckhard.

According to Dessa, the new flavor “combines cardamom, chocolate-covered espresso chips, and toffee crunch in a smooth coffee base made from local Bizzy Coffee’s House Blend Cold Brew concentrate in Izzy’s cream.” Inspired by long espresso-fueled drives between cities when she’s on tour, “Dessa’s Night Drive” is the ace in the cupholder—the perfect treat to make it through the late shift. You can get a scoop of the stuff at the Hamline Church Dining Hall on the fairgrounds from August 22nd – September 2nd. Not-at-all coincidentally, Dessa’s headlining two nights at the fair this year: catch her at the Bandshell at 8:30pm on September 1st and 2nd–and maybe get her to sign your ice cream cone. After the Fair wraps, the flavor will be added to the freezers at both Izzy’s locations. Here’s Dessa’s remaining summer tour dates below.

And speaking of Dessa (SEGUE!!!), her trip last year to South Africa with the Minnesota Orchestra has now been made into an hour-long documentary and premiered by local PBS-affiliate TPT. Learn about the entire incredible journey below and enjoy some soundbed music from yours truly throughout.

In summer show news, we’ve got the legendary X-Games coming back to Minneapolis in just over one week. Our very own P.O.S will be performing at one of the special nightly concerts and he’ll be joined by the entire WU-TANG CLAN!!!! Oh man, the Stef that I met in highschool that wore the same Wu Wear tanktop for two years straight is definitely freaking out right now. Check out the details below and grab your tickets HERE.

And then of course there’s the huge Wild Waters Music Festival in beautiful Duluth, MN on August 16th. Come see the last full-crew Doomtree show of the year and help support and raise awareness for our incredible Boundary Waters. We’ll be joined by an absolute onslaught of MN artists and activists. Check out the crazy lineup below and grab those tickets HERE.

And if you’re looking for something to do in the Twin Cities this Monday, June 29th, I have got the thing for you. I’ll be linking up with my friends at the Legacy Matters podcast to be a special guest on their first-ever live podcast taping. Hit up the 331 Club in NE Minneapolis at 6pm for some storytelling and drinks.

And if you missed my guest appearance earlier this year on the Legacy Matters podcast, you can check it out right HERE.

I recently had the pleasure of once again working with Legend God producer BJ Burton on a track off the new BANKS album that he also executive produced. Check out “Stroke” below. I added a bunch of stems and production to the second half of the track. Shouts to BJ for absolutely killing it these past couple of years. I highly recommend checking out that entire BANKS album too. So fire.

And while we’re at it, let’s jump into a few more Bonus Jams. Loving this new one from Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens, especially the crazy beat breakdown at the end. Check out “Gone” below.

Blood Orange just dropped a little companion project to his last album and this video for “Benzo” is phenomenal.

Really loving these couple of solo songs from Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard. This “Stay High” song is a hit, the video stars Terry Crews, and I’m really excited to see this different musical side from Brittany. Very much looking forward to the new album.

Brittany Howard – “Stay High”

Pumped to hear a new track from Leon Bridges, who definitely had a Top 10 Album of 2019 in my humble opinion. This new track has a much chiller vibe and I can’t wait to hear more.

Leon Bridges – “That Was Yesterday”

The ever-reliable Wilco are back with yet another album. This might be the most consistent band of all time. Digging this new “Love Is Everywhere” track and the new album name Ode To Joy is great.

Wilco – “Love Is Everywhere (Beware)”

I’m freaking out about this new Highwomen supergroup of Brandi Carlisle, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby. First of all, the band name is the greatest, and this “Redesigning Women” first single is excellent.

The Highwomen – “Redesigning Women”

And while we’re on the country vibe, here’s the new single from my favorite Miranda Lambert. Check out “It All Comes Out In The Wash” below.

Angel Davanport just released a killer new music video for her smash hit “JESUS.” Check out the visual below and make sure to check out her latest Sore But Grateful EP right HERE. She is theeeeeee best!

Stoked on the new Yellow Tape EP from Twin Cities artist Destiny Roberts. Bonus points to her for referencing Fabolous’ verse on The Dream’s “Shawty Is The Sh*t” song for her very own “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” track. Check out another heater, “Plenty,” below.

Destiny Roberts – “Plenty”

And lastly, here’s a new instrumental from our good friend, music video mastermind, and one half of Cloquet, J. Gundersen. He’s been randomly releasing instros all summer long and this “I’ll Become” joint is one of my favs for sure.

BOOM! That’s it for Bonus Jams this week. Make sure to add my Bonus Jams playlist to your Spotify player right HERE and take all the tunes with you wherever you go. Updated every Tuesday!

Alright, back to the water slides. I hope you all have a wonderful week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for an absolutely monumental Shredders update. Be there!
